Dynamics Upgrade Services

Upgrades from Microsoft Business Solutions Navision 3.70x to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009x

1. A very large importer of wines in USA needed to upgrade their MBS Navision 3.70B (Source) implementation to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 (Target). Their source database was highly customized with standard Navision functionality being modified in almost all business areas within the Navision 3.70B Business Essentials version. The challenge was to upgrade their code in stages and assist the Microsoft Dynamics Partner in USA to successfully integrate, test and deploy the upgraded objects. Using the standard Upgrade Toolkit was not of much help due to highly customized code in almost all standard Navision objects.

Skiva planned and successfully executed the technical code upgrade starting with Tables and Codeunits and then moving on the Forms upgrade for the NAV 2009 SP1 Classic and Page Transformation for Role Tailored Clients respectively. The reports were not upgraded at this stage as there was no data to test them. Thus, the data upgrade was undertaken and all data from source was successfully migrated to the target version. Reports were then upgraded for Classic client and few reports were also transformed or re-designed for the Role Tailored client in the target version.

Skiva was able to successfully deliver this project in 4 months.

2. A Microsoft Dynamics Gold Partner in Sweden has partnered with Skiva for executing upgrade projects for its large customer base in Sweden who are currently on MBS Navision 3.70B and wanting to upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 or R2. Skiva has successfully executed 11 such upgrade projects till date which involved handling different customizations, localized functionality and ISV solutions (add-ons) integrated within the source implementation in most cases. The upgrade projects started in 2009 and are still in progress due to many customers still in the pipeline awaiting upgrade.

3. A leading Ceramic Dental Implant manufacturer in Canada wanted to upgrade its Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 (source) implementation to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 (target) in order to stay current on a latest version and also avail benefits from new data visualization, online payment processing features, etc. The challenge was that most customizations were done on Classic client Forms and Reports which were not replicated in the corresponding Role Tailored client (RTC) Pages and Reports. In order to reduce the complexity in the Code Upgrade, Skiva undertook RTC Page and Reports transformation before embarking on the upgrade process. The ISV solutions implemented in the source involved only the Classic Client objects which Skiva decided not to upgrade and instead suggested the customer to procure the latest upgrade version of the solution from the ISV, which was then implemented and integrated after the completion of the upgrade.
The whole process was successfully executed within 3 months.
